Sorted is changing

We're making it even easier to manage your money.

Easier to use

With a fresh new look, it’s going to be easier to find the information you want.

New calculators

It will be easier to use, save and review your favourite calculators.

Better features

We've listened to user feedback, resulting in a number of exciting new features.

Sorted turns 10 this year and we're building a brand new website.

That means offering new calculators and features that will make it easier for you to manage your money. It’ll be easier to save and review your favourite calculators. And you’ll be able to find the information you want, more easily. We’ve paid close attention to the suggestions and feedback users have had about Sorted and this has been influential in the redevelopment.

The new website is expected to go live in early March 2012.

Come back to this page when you next visit Sorted – we’ll be updating it regularly as we get closer to the new site going live. If you’ve got a question or feedback, please email us.

Questions & Answers

  1. Q1 I'm used to the site, why are you changing it?

We need to make some enhancements to the technical bits and pieces that work behind the scenes. As part of our redesign, we’ve reviewed the feedback and suggestions that users have made over the years and this has been influential in our thinking.

Some of the calculators are expensive to maintain and not used as much – so the new website is about offering the most popular calculators and making these extra good.

We’re also taking a fresh look at the content and will provide it in a way that’s much easier to find the topics you want. You’ll still be able to find content on the same topics on the new site – we’re just improving the information and introducing some new sections to help you.

Tip: My Sorted users can join a User Panel which gives them an opportunity to attend focus groups from time to time or sometimes be involved in website developments. Just go into ‘Edit my profile’ in your My Sorted account, and tick the User Panel box. Register for My Sorted

  2. Q2 What are the changes, and which calculators will feature on the new website?

The new website will be much easier to navigate. There will be clear links between our calculators and tools and other content – making it easier for users to see the next steps they need to take on their journey towards getting sorted.

We will feature special ‘lite’ calculators that will encourage people to see how even a slight adjustment can make a big difference to getting sorted.

Here are the calculators and tools that will feature on the new site:

    1. Budget calculator
    2. Event planner
    3. Net worth calculator
    4. Mortgage calculator (for new mortgages)
    5. Managing your mortgage calculator (for existing mortgages)
    6. Debt calculator (including HP, credit card, personal loans, car loan)
    7. Saving calculator
    8. Retirement calculator
    9. KiwiSaver calculator
    10. KiwiSaver fees calculator
    11. My Goals Worksheet
    12. Sort Me
    13. Money personality profiler
    14. Risk recommender
    15. Investment recommender
  3. Q3 When will it happen?

The new website is expected to go live in early March 2012. From January 2012, we will feature a ‘go live’ date on this page – so users will be able to see the go live date at a glance.

  4. Q4 I have a My Sorted account – what happens to my account and my saved calculators?

Your My Sorted account will transfer to the new website. So you will be able to log in to your My Sorted account using your current user name and password. Your personal preferences will also transfer – so if you have registered to receive our Sorted emails, these will still occur. If you have saved the Budget calculator, you will find that has transferred across as well.

Because the other calculators and tools that feature on the new website are being altered, we are unable to transfer your data for these other calculators. If you wish to save any existing calculators from your account you can now download these into a PDF file. To do so, click on a saved calculator and you will see the ‘Download PDF’ button. We will remind you to do this closer to the launch date.

If you don’t want to save your existing calculators, that’s fine too. Keeping on top of your money matters means regular reviews are good practice – so if your saved calculators are more than a year old, we’d suggest you make a fresh start with the new website.

Tip: If you wish to keep any of your saved calculators make sure you download them before the new site goes live. You can do this now but you may wish to do it closer to the time. If you receive our Sorted emails, we’ll remind you late in January. Log in to My Sorted

  5. Q5 Some of the calculators I like using don’t feature on the new website – what can I do?

You can save these calculators to a PDF – you won’t be able to adjust the numbers, but it will provide a record of your saved calculator. The calculators we’re no longer offering are the ones least used, and many of them are our most expensive to maintain. In the case of Money Tracker – many organisations are offering a similar product and it makes sense for us to recommend people use those rather than try to deliver a product that we are unable to maintain.

These are the calculators that won’t feature in the new site:

    1. Money Tracker
    2. Student loan, Student budget and Student qualification value calculators
    3. Kids money personality profiler
    4. Kids & Money games: cash cloud, dollar island, money reef
    5. Goal machine
    6. Insurance calculator
    7. Comprehensive retirement calculator
    8. 60+ budget calculator
    9. Managing your nest egg
    10. Principal & interest, quick reverse and comprehensive mortgage calculators

Tip: My Sorted users can download their saved calculators into a PDF by going to the ‘My Calculators’ page, opening the saved calculator and selecting the “Download PDF” button. Log in to My Sorted

  6. Q6 What do I need to do to prepare?

If you have a My Sorted account:
    • Make sure your email address is correct
    • Sign up to receive our My Sorted emails – so we can keep you updated.
    • If you have saved calculators and you want to keep them, download them into a PDF file. (The only exception is the Budget calculator because your data will be automatically transferred to the new site.)
If you don’t have a My Sorted account:
