Have your say on proposed student loan changes
Inland Revenue has launched an online forum to consult about new policy proposals for student loans. Anyone with an interest in student loans can comment on the proposals at www.ird.govt.nz/studentloanforum.
no i dont think that there is, but have you though about working to pay the bills
You can earn $180 pw before tax. that's about 15 hours in a supermarket. Easy work, 2 shifts a week.
i think this is a great way to help students financially and can help with any living costs, medical cost, travel etc.
i really would like to get a allowance.
You can still apply for certain things from WINZ even when you are on study link. like accomodation suppliment, one off help with bills, and overdue rent etc. So it's worth going into WINZ to ask if there is anything they can offer you.
i tired to get the acconodation suppliment, but could not get it because i am a student and i have a loan through study link. i was told that WINZ is for working people and study link for students. i do not think they will help in this matter. call study link and ask what they can offer for you.
If you are receiving the student allowance and can't afford to live on it, have you asked study link about Hardship? I have heard from a family member that it helps if you are in hardship. Well anyway good luck.
Hey I am planning to move out of my parents house next year and was wondering if anyone had any tips for me .
Perhaps you could try studying and working full time or up to roughly 30 hrs per week. I think its unfair that you expect that you should receive more. Other countries do not have this luxury and it has become a natural thing that people expect more from the Govt... do it the hard way, If you have too many bills maybe focus on paying them off and then studying... there are always options.
I am a tertiary student flatting with two others, my course takes up 10 hours a day 4 days a week and i work for 10-12 hours the remaining 3 days of the week, and also get a student allowance. I have my fees all paid for but it seems that i'm spending a little more than what i earn and i am on a tight budget already. Any tips to help me save a little money easier rather than working and getting stressed and tired due to such long days?
