Sorted help

Do I have to register to use this site?

No. Anyone can read all the content on the site, and use the calculators without restriction. However, if you want to save your calculations for later use, we need some way to keep track of your saves and make sure they don't get lost. A My Plan login is a fairly simple, and completely private, system that lets you keep track of things on the site.

Who is behind Sorted and what are you trying to achieve?

The Sorted website is the centrepiece of the Retirement Commission's financial education programme for New Zealanders. It is an impartial and independent website with no commercial backing. For more information on how Sorted is run visit: http://www.retirement.org.nz/about_sorted.html. The Retirement Commission's goal is to help all New Zealanders achieve a sense of financial security and wellbeing, not just for retirement but throughout their lives.

Any chance of Sorted starting up a discussion forum?

Not as such. but My Plan members can now add comments to most Sorted pages.

Is your money personality exercise accurate?

The Money personality profiler was created by a clinical psychologist so it should be fairly accurate. That said, it is a light hearted tool and really designed to provide a fun interactive way for people think about their own strengths and weaknesses when it comes to how they manage their money.

We'd like permission to use an image of the Sorted mouse in our publication

We're pleased you're referring your readers to our independent information and tools and we're happy for you to include a referral and an image of the Sorted mouse.

Please refer to the website as www.sorted.org.nz not www.sorted.co.nz. Although both URLs will work, the former is the actual brand.

Are we able to use information from Sorted?

We're certainly keen to get our financial messages read by as many people as possible – so we're generally happy for people to include our material, provided it is referenced to Sorted.

Sorted material is independent and impartial. You are welcome to use it so long as it is clear that Sorted does not endorse any particular product or service provider.

What are tags?

Tags are groups of keywords that we have added to each page on Sorted to describe the page's subject matter. They are just another way of helping you find content that is relevant to you.

For example, our Car loans page is tagged with the following keywords:

Car loans, Debt, Finance deals, Hire purchase, Loans, Managing debt, Net worth

Each individual tag links to a page containing headings and summaries of all other pages on Sorted tagged with that keyword or phrase.

So if you click on 'Debt' you will see a list of all other content pages, Kiwi Stories and articles on Sorted that we have also tagged with that term.

The 'tag cloud' on the right-hand side of our home page shows at a glance some of the most common tags used throughout Sorted.
