I've registered for My Plan, but when I try and log in it says my registration hasn't been confirmed. What should I do?
When new users register for My Plan they are sent an email with a link in it, which must then be clicked to confirm and activate their registration. This is to verify that the holder of the email account is the one who requested the registration attached to that address. Sometimes these emails get blocked by spam filters, and sometimes the link may not work from certain email programs.
If you get this error you should email office@sorted.org.nz.
I think I may have registered twice and now I'm confused, what should I do?
If you think you may have registered twice, email office@sorted.org.nz with whatever details of both registrations you can remember, including when each of registrations may have been made. The email address used to register in each case is the most useful information to have, as we have very limited access to the registered details for privacy reasons.
I'm fairly sure I've registered on this site once before, and I had some saved calculations. Can I still access those or get them back somehow?
Sorted does not delete or expire registrations unless we're specifically asked to. If you can provide us with some detail - such as an email address - to search on we should be able to get a new password sent out. We can't look 'inside' to see what has been saved however, and if your email address has changed and you can not access the old one we will require definite proof that the original registration was indeed yours.
I've forgotten my login or password, can you help me get back in?
Yes. On the right-hand side of every page, under the My Plan Login entry fields is a link that says 'Forgotten password?'. Click this and enter the email address you registered with, and your login details will be emailed out. If this doesn't work for you then email office@sorted.org.nz with the details you have to hand, and we will try and help you from there. We do take the privacy of our users seriously however, and can not access users passwords ourselves or send out details without definite proof of identity.
Is this site 'secure', are my details kept private and confidential?
Sorted is not currently a 'secure' site in that it does not have an authorised security certificate attached to any pages. As we do not collect details such as credit card numbers or process any transactions this certificate has not been considered necessary to date and maintaining a secure connection for pages would bring with it a host of connection and page loading performance issues. This decision is regularly reviewed in response to site feedback and industry practices.
We do however safeguard the security of all information collected and stored in the site database to allow you to log in, and the actual figures stored in your My Plan saved calculators. The privacy of this information is taken very seriously by Sorted. As little information as possible is actually kept, and it is encrypted. For these reasons we do not provide further detail on security measures.
Why do you want to know my name, email address or anything about me at all?
The reason we ask for First and Last names on registration is so we have something other than email address to go by in providing support and answering questions around registrations. For example if someone has mistyped their email address and not received an email from the site as a result we can use their names to follow up with and correct the error.
We have no way of knowing whether someone is using their real name on the site, and it doesn't matter, as long as they can remember what they have registered. The other details given are not available for privacy reasons, so a name does help us manage the site for our users.
The demographic information questions are not required for registration, so providing that information is optional. Sorted does take the privacy of users seriously, and we're happy to discuss further with our visitors to reassure them.

What are comments?
If you're a My Plan member, you can now add comments to most Sorted pages. Comments can be seen by all Sorted users, but only logged-in My Plan members can post or reply to comments.
