Talking about the hard stuff

Talking about the hard stuff

Tagged with: 60plus

For many older people it’s difficult to talk about financial issues like appointing an enduring power of attorney, writing a will or using some of the money tied up in the family home. But it is a discussion all families need to have.

There are some tough questions to discuss like when is the right time to move to a retirement village or rest home? Or who will manage my affairs if I’m unable to in the future?

As a family you’ll need to consider all of these issues so everyone has clear expectations about the future. It also saves a huge amount of grief later on when things like ill health can mean it’s almost too late to make good informed decisions.

Our 60plus section and Your Money in Retirement booklet provide lots of helpful information around these issues.

We've also just developed a set of Sorted ‘Talking Points’ to help families raise and resolve some of the most important questions.

The Talking Points are available for download now.
